It has been confirmed that in March Serge Lutens is launching a new export line fragrance called Gris Clair. The composition is supposed to be based around the ashes and lavender theme. For more information on Serge Lutens and the difference between the export and the exclusive lines, please see Serge Lutens Nearly All Facts.
Diptyque is adding a new fragrance to its range, named Eau de Lierre. Based on the scent of ivy, the fragrance will include various green notes, including violet leaf as well as woods and musk. The fragrance will debut in May of 2006.
Thank you for the heads up on these 2. They both sound like something that I will like.

Barry, you are welcome. I love Encens et Lavande, and I am anticipating Gris Clair very much.
As for ivy, I love Diptyque's Lierre candle, therefore I hope that the EDT will render its scent well.

As you know, I have just discovered Encens et Lavande--and love it! I got a sample because of the "encens" but put off smelling it because of the "lavande." But it was for me a "smell-and-immediately-search-for-decant-on-ebay-and buy" kind of scent (if you know what I mean). And there aren't too many of those (I usually wait a few days, at least):) So I, too, am very interested to try Gris Clair. Ashes, strangely, sound very good to me.

Would guess I am the only one who is more excited about the Diptyque than the SL...love ivy, hate lavender.

Judith, yes, I thought I disliked lavender until I tried Jicky and Encens et Lavande. It dries down to a very sensual, herbal-smoky scent. Therefore, I cannot wait till Gris Clair is out.

R, I am excited the Diptyque too! I love the scent of ivy, and I adore Lierre candle. I always wished it came in the EDT.

That Gris Clair sounds promising. The immediate thought it brings to mind is whether it will be a development of the essential idea in Encens et Lavande or if it will be something else entirely. Hey, I like E&L, and I love both incense and lavender. (I used to hate lavender, but now I go through whole bottles in months.) I look forward to reading your eventual review!

T, I also hear that it is supposed to be a lighter, much more ethereal fragrance than Encens et Lavande, with notes of musk. However, who knows what will happen in the end. Serge Lutens rarely disappoints me.

They both sound so me! I can't wait to try them. It looks like sweet is finally not so hot anymore. (yay!)

M, yes, that is a welcome relief! I cannot wait.

Hi
One salesman in ebay sold Gris Clair in advance.
It was incredible:the price was about 150 euros at the end.
Amazing.
I don't enjoy encens et lavande,so i guess i won't love GRIS CLAIR.
But now we just can't go on as perfume lovers without attending new scents from Lutens,it is always a marvel we want to know and smell.
That's such an incredible work.

Julien, oh, this is interesting. 150 euros is much less than what I would think. However, it is of course still very expensive for a 50ml bottle.
I would be more interested in Gris Clair if it were a floral, however I am still fascinated with it.

I was puzzled when I heard Gris Clair was an ashes and lavender scent - why not just release Encens et Lavande into the export range? But it appears it will be a bit different. That's a good thing - sometimes Encens et Lavande is a bit too intense for me. I can't wait to try it. The Diptyque ivy scent sounds great too!

Tara, my thoughts paralleled yours at first too. However, it seems that it is going to be rather different, therefore I am anticipating it eagerly.

I would have adored GRIS CLAIR to be based on ambre gris.
Mmmmmm...
Do you know acier aluminium from creed?
It is supposed to be the best fragance in the world to use ambre gris...warm,sweet spices, fruits and vanilla in addition to the ambre gris.
I must smell it,because i read many wonderful things on it...that's the reason why i dream of ambre gris now,and GRIS CLAIR with its name could have been using it.
By the way,150 euros is very expansive if you think in France Lutens in export range, for 50ml is 72 euros.
The house which is more interesting in France for the prices is NICOLAI.
And i love vanille Tonka and Sacrebleu!:)
Kisses.

J, I have not tried Creed's fragrance, however I love Hermes Eau des Merveilles for its treatment of ambergris. If you like this note, you might enjoy Hermes fragrance.
Nicolai is a great house, and the fragrances are most reasonably priced. Like you, I love Vanille Tonka and Sacrebleu. Pour Homme is also excellent.

I was figuring it out while i was writing my own post.
I truly adore eau des merveilles.
It is a citrus/amber so joyous and pleasurable to wear.
A perfect summer scent, less cold for example than Cristalle of chanel.
Hey,we have lots of tastes in common...
:)
Kisses,my friend.

Yes, we do! :) Glad to hear that you like Eau des Merveilles as much as I do.

Eau des Merveilles is a masterful fragrance, my very favorite ambergris scent. It is in my top 5 fragrances of all time!
Posted by: Tara | November 23, 2005 at 18:33
T, have you tried Parfum des Merveilles? I thought that it was wonderful.
