"It's such a thrill. A lot of perfumes disappeared because they were no good or were of the moment and ceased to be relevant. But these ones - all the ones in my parfumerie - are more than relevant today; they were probably just ahead of their time. When you take scents like Miss Dior or Vol de Nuit by Guerlain, you have formulas which are still avant-garde and totally wearable. Commercial perfumery is nowhere near as creative,"
says Roja Dove, the fragrance expert and the mastermind behind Roja Dove Haute Parfumerie in Harrod's, in an interview to Alison Kerr. See the rest of the article in The Scotsman. Thank you to Tara for the link.
Why does Roja Dove's fragrance look like a Clive Christian?

I did not even read the caption, assuming that it was a Clive Christian!

Interesting. Why oh why did they not say what the revived Weils were? I remember having a mini of something by Weil back in the days when those sample boxes of Parisian perfumes you could buy at the airport actually contained something other than Anais anais. And it was amazing - in a similar vein to Tabac Blonde if I recall. Do you know what I might be referring to, V?

D, I am not as familiar with Weil line as, for instance, Katie of Scentzilla. I have tried Zibeline and Antilope, but I do not recall those bearing much resemblance to Tabac Blond. Katie just posted a fascinating article on the history of the house, so you might find it very interesting.

thank you V! It might have been Antilope. It was a very long time ago.

D, I am tempted to revisit Antilope right now!

By the way the article in the Scotsman was incorrect. This fragrance is not created by Roja Dove the fragrance expert.. It is by Clive Christian and in it's 16 oz. form complete with crystal bottle and diamond centerpiece, it costs $215,000. But if you've ever smelled No. 1 (the name of the perfume in its 1 oz. form), you've smelled Imperial Majesty, just in a smaller quantity, going for a $2000 or so USD. Google search "most expensive perfume" and you will find a lot more information about this.
